I booted up Karmic alpha 4 from a pendrive and it is looking pretty good for the Aspire One.

  • wireless and the LED works (ath5k)
  • acerhdf comes pre-built (but /etc/modprobe.d/acerhdf.conf file needs to be created with “options acerhdf kernelmode=1” to enable it)
  • suspend works
  • sound works, including the microphone

So the only thing that may require tweaking is if you have an SSD. In fact, my SSD is the only thing keeping me from upgrading immediately as I don’t want all the updates wearing on my drive. I will go ahead and upgrade, maybe around beta release, and post a full (probably short) howto.
